INSTRUCTIONS FROM A USER WHO FOUND A SOLUTION: "Apparently pptx is essentially a set of xml files in a zip-compressed file. Apparently version 8 of IE will recognize the files as ZIP rather than PowerPoint. It also seems that version 9 of IE (the one you will have if you have allowed the upgrade) will recognize the files properly and open them in PowerPoint. I expect the other current browser varieties will to. So, probably not a problem for most folks, and if people have trouble, what they need to do is save the files rather than open them, and they will need to change the extension from .zip to .pptx."
